Requirements

Students must have access to a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection.
A government-issued photo ID may be required for student verification.
Device must include a working camera and microphone for identity verification and/or course participation requirements where applicable.
Students must complete all required course hours, participation activities, assessments, and course evaluations to receive completion certificates.

Description

The 2-Hour Mental Health Awareness Course is an NYC DOB-approved Site Safety Training (SST) course designed to promote mental health awareness within the construction industry and help workers recognize the importance of mental well-being on the job site.

This course includes training on:

Mental health awareness in the workplace
Stress recognition and management
Suicide prevention awareness
Substance misuse awareness
Communication and support resources for construction workers
Promoting safer and healthier work environments

This course is intended for construction workers, supervisors, foremen, and competent persons seeking to satisfy NYC DOB SST training requirements under Local Law 196.

Students will learn how mental health impacts workplace safety, productivity, decision-making, and overall job site well-being while understanding available support resources within the construction industry.

Important Notes:

Beginning May 3, 2026, this course became an approved SST course under NYC DOB requirements.
Beginning August 1, 2026, this course replaces the 2-Hour Drug & Alcohol Awareness Course for SST purposes.
This course may be used toward qualifying SST Worker or SST Supervisor Card requirements depending on the student’s existing training history.
All online training must be completed by the registered student only.
Identity verification and online participation monitoring may be required during the course.
